How to Source Leather Jackets from Pakistan

A step-by-step guide for European brands sourcing leather jackets from Pakistan: leather selection, workshop matching, sampling, quality control and shipping.

Pakistan is one of the natural places to source leather outerwear: it processes hides, tans leather, and cuts and stitches garments, often within the same regional clusters around Sialkot, Karachi and Lahore. That does not make every supplier right for every jacket. This guide explains how to approach sourcing so the jacket you approve is the jacket you receive.

1. Define the product before you ask for prices

Most sourcing problems start with an incomplete brief. Two workshops quoting “a lambskin biker jacket” can be quoting very different products. At minimum, define:

  • Leather: type (lambskin nappa, full-grain cowhide, goatskin), thickness in mm, tannage and finish.
  • Fit and measurements: a size chart with tolerances, or a reference garment and your blocks.
  • Construction: panel layout, seams, zip and hardware, quilting and lining.
  • Branding: embossing, labels, custom hardware, contrast stitching.
  • Packaging: polybag or garment bag, hang tags, carton requirements.
  • Quantities: per style, per colour and per size.

Our guide on what to include in a leather goods RFQ gives a full checklist.

2. Choose leather deliberately

Leather shapes both the look and the cost. Soft lambskin nappa (0.8–1.0 mm) drapes for blazers and bombers; heavier full-grain cowhide (1.1–1.4 mm) gives the structure of a moto jacket; goatskin sits in between for durability. See leather grades explained for how to compare leathers properly.

3. Match the product to the right workshop

A workshop that sews excellent soft bombers may not be the best choice for a structured, hardware-heavy biker. Look at what the workshop makes every day, its leather sources, its finishing capability and its minimum quantities. This is the core of what we do in our sourcing network.

4. Sample before you commit

A development and fit sample confirms leather, fit, finish and hardware before bulk. We review each sample against your specification before it reaches you, and bulk begins only on your written approval.

5. Inspect against an agreed standard

Agree inspection standards — measurement tolerances, defect classes and any testing — before production. We inspect at leather, pre-production, inline, final and packing stages, and share the results. Read how leather quality control works.
